-Bonjour, peux-tu te présenter aux lecteurs ? Hello, could you introduce yourself ?
Salut, je m’appelle Dominique. Je suis fan de football (soccer) et de l’ AS Monaco. J’ai 39 ans et je suis fleuriste à Monaco.

-Depuis quand collectionnes-tu et comment es-tu tombé dans le hobby ? How long are you collecting ? How do you start collecting ?
Depuis petit j’ai toujours aimé collectionner. J’ai eu des périodes où je collectionnais les pins, casquettes, stickers foot, timbres, mangas, etc… mais depuis 2 ans je me suis lancé dans le hobby. Je ne me souviens plus exactement par quel miracle une carte Panini Immaculate avec un bout de maillot est arrivée dans ma TL Twitter mais je n’en avais jamais vu. J’ai trouvé ça incroyable, puis je me suis intéressé à qui était disponible et j’ai découvert les cartes parallèles, les autos, booklets, Rookie, etc… Je n’en avais jamais entendu parlé alors que je suis fan de foot et que j’ai vécu longtemps en France (enfin Monaco) mais aussi en Espagne ou en Angleterre.
From a young age I have always loved collecting. I had periods when I collected pins, caps, football stickers, stamps, manga, etc… but for 2 years I started in the hobby. I don’t remember exactly by what miracle a Panini Immaculate card with a piece of jersey arrived in my TL Twitter but I had never seen one. I thought it was amazing, then I got interested in who was available and I discovered parallel cards, autos, booklets, Rookie, etc… I had never heard of it even though I’m a football fan and that I lived for a long time in France (finally Monaco) but also in Spain or England.
-Te souviens-tu de ta toute première carte ? Laquelle était-ce ? Do you remember your first card ? Which one was it ?
Mon premier achat hobby était une box de Topps Merlin UEFA Champions League 2020/2021. C’était une super box mais comme je n’avais aucune idée des codes du hobby j’étais un peu déçu. Je voulais des joueurs connus surtout et j’avais touché une Wesley Fofana rookie en auto, et des rookies que je ne connaissais pas (Martinelli d’Arsenal /25 et Pedro Gonçalves /99). Je n’étais pas courant que le nerf de la guerre (pour beaucoup en tout cas) c’était exactement ce genre de joueur. Du coup je les ai vendu pour pas grand-chose et aujourd’hui ils valent bien plus. Depuis j’ai compris que la course au rookie c’était pas pour moi et que pour moi le hobby n’est pas un investissement.
My first hobby purchase was a Topps Merlin UEFA Champions League 2020/2021 box. It was a great box but as I had no idea of the codes of the hobby I was a little disappointed. I wanted famous players especially and I had touched a rookie Wesley Fofana in the car, and rookies that I did not know (Martinelli from Arsenal / 25 and Pedro Gonçalves / 99). I was not aware that the sinews of war (for many anyway) was exactly this kind of player. So I sold them for not much and today they are worth much more. Since I understood that the rookie race was not for me and that for me the hobby is not an investment.
-Quels sports, quelles cartes et/ou collections recherches-tu ? What kind of sports, what kind of cards or collections are you looking for ?
Je collectionne uniquement le football. Je me concentre sur les cartes de l’AS Monaco des joueurs qui me plaisent le plus. Je n’essaie pas d’avoir toutes les cartes de mon équipe mais vraiment ceux des joueurs que j’apprécie. J’aime aussi beaucoup les cartes avec patch maillot et je collectionne les Panini Obsidian Red Flood avec relic. Personnellement je préfère ce type de carte à une auto. Dans ma tête je me dis que je peux obtenir un autographe sur une carte base en allant au match ou aux entrainements. Alors qu’un maillot player-worn c’est beaucoup plus inaccessible.
Si je devais me lancer dans un autre sport cela serait le MMA avec des cartes de l’UFC pour une PC des stars des années 2010 qui était pour moi le peak du sport.
I only collect football. I focus on the AS Monaco cards of the players I like the most. I don’t try to have all the cards of my team but really those of the players I like. I also really like jersey patch cards and I collect Panini Obsidian Red Flood with relic. Personally I prefer this type of card to a car. In my head I tell myself that I can get an autograph on a base card by going to the game or to training. While a player-worn jersey is much more inaccessible.
If I had to go into another sport it would be MMA with UFC cards for a 2010s star CP which for me was the peak of the sport.
-Quelle est la plus belle carte de ta collection ? What’s your most beautiful card in your collection ?
Sans aucun doute ma One of One de Falcao en Panini Donruss Soccer 2018/19. Déjà c’est ma toute première 1/1… et j’en ai cherché pendant des mois. Depuis j’ai pu avoir une deuxième 1/1 de Moutinho en Topps Museum Collection et cette fois c’était une Patch/Auto. Mais cela va changer très bientôt car j’ai deux nouvelle 1/1 qui vont arriver. Je n’en dis pas plus pour l’instant !
Without a doubt my One of One by Falcao in Panini Donruss Soccer 2018/19. Already this is my very first 1/1… and I have been looking for it for months. Since then I have been able to have a second 1/1 of Moutinho in the Topps Museum Collection and this time it was a Patch/Auto. But that will change very soon because I have two new 1/1s coming. I say no more for now!
-Quel est ton prochain achat ? What’s your next purchase ?
C’est dur à dire car cela dépend vraiment de ce que je trouve. J’achète rarement des box, je suis plutôt dans les cartes à l’unité. En ce moment je travaille beaucoup sur ma PC Panini Obsidian Patch Red Flood et j’en achète régulièrement. Cela sera probablement une Adrien Rabiot Panini Obsidian Eruption Red Flood.
It’s hard to say because it really depends on what I find. I rarely buy boxes, I’m more into single cards. At the moment I’m working a lot on my PC Panini Obsidian Patch Red Flood and I buy some regularly. It will probably be an Adrien Rabiot Panini Obsidian Eruption Red Flood.
-Quel est ton budget mensuel ? What’s your monthly budget ?
Entre 200 et 300€ par mois, sauf occasion exceptionnelle où je tombe sur une carte PC qui est immanquable, comme c’est le cas en février avec les deux 1/1 que j’ai acheté.
Between 200 and 300€ per month, except on exceptional occasions when I come across a PC card that cannot be missed, as is the case in February with the two 1/1s that I bought.
-Quelle est la carte de tes rêves ? What’s your dream’s card ?
Le graal de ma PC c’est les cartes 1/1 patch, donc une Falcao 1/1 avec un patch incroyable de l’AS Monaco serait magnifique. J’ai de la chance car je pense que très bientôt j’en aurai une… même deux 😊
J’achète aussi de temps en temps des cartes de joueurs que j’adore. J’ai une belle Griezmann Patch/Auto de Panini Noir ou encore une Michael Owen auto Select /30. Idéalement j’aimerais avoir une jolie carte de Totti, Aguero et Fernando Torres.
The holy grail of my PC is 1/1 patch maps, so a 1/1 Falcao with an amazing AS Monaco patch would be magnificent. I’m lucky because I think that very soon I will have one… even two 😊
I also buy cards from players from time to time that I love. I have a nice Griezmann Patch/Auto de Panini Noir or a Michael Owen auto Select /30. Ideally I would like to have a nice card from Totti, Aguero and Fernando Torres.
-Quel(s) conseil(s) donnerais-tu à un débutant ? Aurais-tu un bon plan à lui donner ? Have you an advice to a beginner ? Have you a good hobby plan ?
Le hobby peut couter très cher et donc je conseillerais de bien se renseigner avant de se lancer. Savoir bien acheter, et aussi bien vendre, est important et pour cela il faut s’informer. Les différentes collections, types de box, les checklist, etc… C’est aussi pour ça que j’ai lancé ma chaine YT où j’essaie d’expliquer comment j’ai construit ma collection, pourquoi et comment j’achète mes nouvelles cartes, etc… Heureusement il y a une très bonne communauté en France et on s’entraide énormément.
The hobby can be very expensive and therefore I would advise to be well informed before starting. Knowing how to buy well, and also how to sell well, is important and for this you need to be informed. The different collections, types of box, checklists, etc… This is also why I launched my YT channel where I try to explain how I built my collection, why and how I buy my news cards, etc. Fortunately there is a very good community in France and we help each other a lot.
-Participe tu à des salons ou évènements sur les cartes ? Do you participate in shows or events on the cards?
J’étais au Paris Card Show en 2022 et c’était mon premier évènement sur les cartes. C’était génial de pouvoir rencontrer plein de collectionneurs avec qui on échange toute l’année. En plus j’ai pu trouver de belles choses notamment une Mountinho Panini Flawless /10 avec des bouts de crampons. La carte la plus incroyable de ma collection.
I was at the Paris Card Show in 2022 and it was my first card event. It was great to be able to meet lots of collectors with whom we exchanged throughout the year. In addition I was able to find beautiful things including a Mountinho Panini Flawless /10 with ends of crampons. The most incredible card in my collection.
-Quelle est ta vision du hobby actuellement ? What’s your actual hobby’s vision ?
Il y a des collectionneurs de NBA ou Baseball depuis bien longtemps en Europe mais je pense que c’est le football qui peut vraiment permettre aux Hobby de se développer ici. Quand je vois la situation du hobby aux US ou en Asie, je me dis qu’on est au tout début de l’aventure en Europe et que le sport #1 doit être la locomotive. Les collectionneurs y croient dur comme fer, maintenant ce sont les fabricants qui doivent y croire aussi (coucou Topps et Panini).
J’ai été surpris d’apprendre récemment que certains collectionneurs étaient réticents à l’idée e partager leur collection sur les réseaux. Ils ont leur raison mais moi j’adore regarder les cartes des autres, savoir qui collectionne quoi et voir comment leur collection se remplit. Quand un pote trouve une carte graal pour lui c’est génial ! Je cherche juste à partager ma passion avec les autres car dans le hobby on a besoin des autres pour faire grandir sa PC. C’est pour ça que je partage beaucoup de cartes sur mon insta ou twitter. C’est aussi pour ça que j’ai créé ma chaine youtube. Quant au podcast c’est vraiment un moyen d’avoir une discussion sympa avec des amis du hobby tous les mois. Si on arrive à convaincre du monde à se lancer tan mieux, mais c’est avant tout un bon moment entre pote à parler de carte !
Une anecdote qui résume bien le hobby :
Basile, un ami collectionneur de cartes de l’Olympique Lyonnais, m’envoie un jour un message car il était chez un étudiant chinois qui est pour un an à Lyon. C’est un collectionneur de cartes et il est venu en France avec une partie de sa collection. Chose improbable : il a une PC des joueurs croates ! Basile m’envoie alors un vidéo en feuilletant les pages de son classeur et là je tombe sur une carte auto /5 de Danijel Subasic, l’ancien gardien de l’AS Monaco, de la collection Topps Chrome UEFA Champions League. Je contacte le collectionneur qui n’est pas très chaud pour vendre et je lui parle du PCS à Paris. Finalement il a accepté de ma la vendre au prix du billet de train pour pouvoir venir au PCS où il m’a remis la carte !
There have been NBA or Baseball collectors for a long time in Europe, but I think it’s football that can really allow hobbies to develop here. When I see the situation of the hobby in the US or in Asia, I tell myself that we are at the very beginning of the adventure in Europe and that sport # 1 must be the locomotive. Collectors strongly believe in it, now it’s the manufacturers who must believe in it too (hello Topps and Panini).
I was surprised to learn recently that some collectors were reluctant to share their collection on the networks. They have their reason but I love looking at other people’s cards, knowing who is collecting what and seeing how their collection is filling up. When a friend finds a grail card for him, it’s great! I’m just looking to share my passion with others because in the hobby you need others to grow your PC. That’s why I share a lot of cards on my insta or twitter. This is also why I created my youtube channel. As for the podcast, it’s really a way to have a nice discussion with friends of the hobby every month. If we manage to convince people to get started, all the better, but above all it’s a good time between friends to talk about maps!
An anecdote that sums up the hobby well:
Basile, a card collector friend from Olympique Lyonnais, sent me a message one day because he was with a Chinese student who is in Lyon for a year. He is a card collector and he came to France with part of his collection. Unlikely thing: he has a CP of Croatian players! Basile then sends me a video while leafing through the pages of his binder and there I come across an auto / 5 card of Danijel Subasic, the former goalkeeper of AS Monaco, from the Topps Chrome UEFA Champions League collection. I contact the collector who is not very eager to sell and I talk to him about the PCS in Paris. Finally he agreed to sell it to me for the price of the train ticket so that he could come to the PCS where he gave me the card!
